LIFE GOES ON

On 30 October 2016 a devastating earthquake struck some areas of central Italy including the beautiful town of Norcia. This small town is located in the heart of the legendary Monti Sibillini in Umbria and it is an area full of history made famous thanks to St. Benedict, Patron of Europe. The entire social fabric is based on the local economy made up on traditional activities related to sheep farming and the processing of pork as well as on tourism. The industrial district has been put completely to its knees by the earthquake: tourism has collapsed and the production and sale of the products was interrupted for the damages suffered by the productive structures. Furthermore the depopulation aggravates the conditions of the the few were able to revive the activities in the wake of the sismic event. However this people don’t give up, their strenght and dignity outclasses every difficulty: “Life goes on” they say.
